When it comes to award show fashion, this California gurl is undeniable.
Katy Perry walked the red carpet at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards at UBS Arena in New York City wearing a white Who Decides War two-piece ensemble. She paired the look with a lower back tattoo of a QR code, presumably a link to her new album, 143. (See every star on the red carpet here.)
The 39-year-old, who attended the event alongside fiancé Orlando Bloom, is receiving a special honor at the event, the Video Vanguard Award, and is also set to perform a medley of her biggest hits. The five-time VMA winner has over the years topped the music charts with singles such as "California Gurls," "Teenage Dream," "Firework," "Roar" and "I Kissed a Girl."
Katy, who also served as an American Idol judge for seven seasons between 2018 and this past May, will appear at the VMAs just ahead of the Sept. 20 release of 143, of which she has in recent months released two singles, "Woman's World" and "Lifelines."
This marks the first time the pop singer has appeared at the MTV VMAs since 2017, when she hosted the event and performed "Swish Swish" with Nicki Minaj.
The rapper had received the Video Vanguard Award at the 2022 VMAs. Other past recipients of the career accolade include Madonna, Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, Beyoncé, Shakira, Jennifer Lopez, Rihanna, Justin Timberlake, Missy Elliott and David Bowie, as well as The Beatles and director Richard Lester, who shared the honor at the first-ever MTV VMAs in 1984.
In addition to Katy, artists set to perform at the 2024 MTV VMAs include Eminem, Camila Cabello, Shawn Mendes, Chappell Roan, GloRilla, Sabrina Carpenter, Anitta, KAROL G, LL Cool J, Lenny Kravitz, Halsey and Megan Thee Stallion, who is also hosting the ceremony.
Presenters include Paris Hilton, Miranda Lambert, Addison Rae, Busta Rhymes, Carson Daly, Cyndi Lauper, Halle Bailey, and 2024 Olympic gymnastics champion Jordan Chiles.
The 2024 MTV VMAs will air live on MTV channels Sept. 11 8 p.m. ET.
