Nobody stands in between Marisa Abela and her man.
After all, the Back to Black star got engaged to her boyfriend of four years, Jamie Bogyo.
The West End actor shared a photo of Marisa holding a rose and showing off her diamond ring in the July 7 Instagram post. He also included a video from afar capturing the moments after he popped the question, with the actress wrapping her legs around him while they embraced.
In another video, their loved ones cheered on the couple at a surprise party following the special moment.
Alongside the sweet celebration, Jamie, 31, cheekily captioned the post, “She said she’ll think about it!”
Meanwhile, Marisa couldn’t help but gush over the moment in the comments, writing with a pink heart emoji that she’s a “weeping mess.”
Prior to her engagement, it had already been an exceptional year for Marisa, who played Amy Winehouse in the late singer’s 2024 biopic. For the 27-year-old, the project was a chance to honor the “Rehab” singer and understand her life over a decade after her death.
“The point of our film is to celebrate the Amy that we all fell in love with in the first place, and to use it to show how she was feeling at different moments of her life,” Marisa explained to Interview Magazine in April. “So the people that have been brought under fire for what went wrong, we just see them through Amy’s eyes. If she loved these people, then that’s how we’re seeing them in this film.”
“Substance abuse is a villain in the film, if you can call it that,” she continued. “But also, the paparazzi and the nature of not being able to leave people alone—the way that we can desensitize ourselves to people’s privacy and feelings.”
But the film also allowed viewers to reflect on who Amy was as an artist and person.
“I loved how effervescent she was, how huge a soul, how she just permeated any room she was in,” Marisa said of Amy to Harper’s Bazaar. “But also, her relationship to her art form, and wanting to be good. That was the most important thing.”
