The tribe has spoken: "Survivor" is back this week.
The 46th season of the long-running reality competition show returns to CBS this week, as 18 new contestants (also known as castaways) compete against each other in physical challenges and strategy with the goal of earning the title of "sole survivor" and the $1 million prize.
Players are divided into tribes in the beginning of the season and must survive on an island in Fiji by finding food, building shelter and fire, and learning to get along with the other strangers on their tribe. They must also compete in challenges to win immunity and rewards, and if they lose, vote each other out at a tribal council. Eventually, players merge into one tribe where the game shifts to an individual one, and players who are voted out form a jury that ultimately selects the winner.
"Survivor" has been on air since 2000, with Jeff Probst as the host for every single one of the show's hundreds of episodes.
